The Warrior Life teaches you how to be successful in all areas of your life. Warriors are mentally and physically strong, so the show focuses on complete health. Laying the foundation for a warrior’s life takes commitment and dedication to all aspects of your well-being. The show airs twice a week. Tuesdays are an expansive version of my weekly blog, which teaches you how to break through bad diet cycles and create positive relationships with food to achieve the body and life of your dreams. Thursdays are interviews with experts to help you overcome the daily battles we all face: being young, aging, disorganization, work-life balance, stress, lack of sleep and more. Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

Dorothy loves music and her favorite artist is Prince. She actually toured with him! In her professional life, she was in telecommunications and managed a sales team. Then at the age of 40, she decided to pursue her dream. She went to college, became a professional makeup artist, and life coach.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

Dorothy has gone through heartbreak at an early age. She was abandoned at the age of 4. She felt unloved growing up, she didn’t get along with stepmom, and never felt good enough. As a result of that, it lead to her losing her virginity at a young age in her quest to find love and acceptance. It wasn’t until she was 43 that she had her ‘aha’ moment.

Warrior They Look Up To:

That warrior that inspires her is her sister. Her sister moves her because she is so resilient. She became a mother as a teenager and bounced back from that to still pursue her dream. She faces adversity and pushes through.  

Heart of The Interview:

Her passion is to help women understand they are God’s masterpiece and they don’t need to be anyone else. She wants to help women love who they are. She feels that when a woman understands who she is she can show up in life powerfully, beautifully, and have an amazing life. She shares how to help you do that. She goes into steps, tips, and strategies to help you achieve this.

I brought my amazing fiance back on the show to answer a question we get all the time, “how do you make it work when you are both so opposite?” Well, it’s not easy but it’s worth it. Chris and I have an honest and truthful conversation about the struggles and successes of dating and living with someone that is your opposite. We talk about some of our fights we had in the beginning and how we overcame them. Also, we leave you with tips and strategies to use right away with you opposite.  This episode is really great for those of you dating or living with your opposite or even if you are not. Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

He is a 'later in life' sports coach. He came to this after a long career in the media business. He started training in the 50’s. His specialty is working with endurance athletes. He is a USA Olympic Triathlon and Cycling coach. He loves working with athletes that are embarking on their endurance journeys like half marathons, marathons, and triathlons.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

He was really fit in his 20s and then got really unfit. He was smoking 2 packs a day and was really unhealthy. On his 40th birthday, someone took a picture of him getting out of the pool and didn’t like what he saw. He made a bet with his then 6-year-old son that he could give up smoking and drinking better than he could give up candy.

Warrior They Look Up To:

Any of his clients that come in with no experience and decide they want to do an endurance race and faithfully stick to the training plan, directions, and races successfully without getting hurt.

Heart Of The Interview:

I am really excited about this conversation. We talked all about stress and how it affects the body. It’s not just about work or life stress but also the stress you put on your body from working out. John is incredibly knowledgeable share great insights on how important rest and recovery is from a mental and physical point of view in order to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Why I Believe This Person Is A Warrior:

This man is a warrior for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons I believe he is a warrior is that he is a recovering alcoholic who not only chose to fight that battle but to help others fighting it too. The good he has done with his battles has helped many other people become stronger and more confident - that to me is a true warrior.

Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

He is the host of the podcast ‘The One You Feed’ named Best of 2014 by iTunes. He does consulting work, writes and performs music, and is a proud father of a son and 3 dogs.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

The defining battle for him was an addiction to drugs and alcohol. He had to overcome that twice and ultimately came out a warrior that is helping others.

Warrior They Look Up To:

He looks up to everyday warriors who manage to be good people despite their circumstances like single mothers.

Heart Of The Interview:

The beauty of his podcast is a parable he starts off with every show. It’s a story that gets you in the right mindset. The parable is known as The Parable of Two Wolves and it goes “a grandfather is walking with his grandson. He tells the grandson ‘There are two wolves inside of us that are always in battle. One is a good wolf that represents things like kindness, bravery, and love. The other is a bad wolf that represent things like greed, hatred, and fear.’ The grandson stops, thinks and asks the grandfather ‘Which one wins?’  And the grandfather says, ‘The one you feed.’ “ That parable sets the tone of our podcast today. We go deep into this concept and learn more about it.

It’s easy to get into a bad relationship with food because relationships, just like eating, involve emotions. We eat sometimes out of happiness. We eat sometimes at anger. We eat sometimes at sadness, and it becomes unhealthy. Because we are no longer eating to fuel our body, we’re now eating to soothe our emotions. We’re using food as a coping mechanism. Rich describes himself as a notorious recluse because of his introspection and observation of the world. He has a curious mind to stop listen to what’s going on around him but he wasn’t always this way. In his 20’s he worked as an actor and model all throughout Europe. He gained some fame and recognition but it didn’t feel right. He knew he needed a change.  

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

Even though from the outside Rich looks fit he has actually suffered from several injuries including a herniated disc. It caused him severe pain that he couldn’t get rid of for months. Due the injury he went into a dark hole mentally and physically that he was finally able to get out of through the help of tai chi and other Easter medications.

Warrior They Look Up To:

He looks up to Master Seo. A man who gifted him the power of healing and helped heal his back.

Heart Of The Interview:

Through this interview, you will see the heart, soul, and incredible mind of Rich. He shares how the body can heal itself by becoming aligned with energy. Valeria was born in Peru and moved at a young age to Northern California. Currently, she lives in Los Angeles and works in the entertainment industry. She lives her life as an open book and loves to share her triumphs and struggles with others.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

One of her hardest battles was her weight gain in college. Growing up she had always been active and played sports, but once she got to college she started eating whatever she wanted at the cafeteria and gained the “freshman 15”. Her weight gain caused issues on her physical because her spine is slightly crooked. She ended having a hard time sitting and standing. She was frustrated that it was limiting her. You will see throughout the interview her battle to lose 25 pounds and become the woman who is comfortable in her own skin today.

Warrior They Look Up To:

She looks up to her parents. Her parents moved to America not knowing English and built up a community around them. Throughout their struggles, they always kept a positive outlook on life, which rubbed off on her and her brother.

Heart Of The Interview:

After struggling with her weight loss battles and feeling uncomfortable in her body she decided to put her journey out there for others to gain strength from. She started a blog called Todo Comodo which translated means “everything comfortable” She blogs the 3 F’s-food, fashion, and fitness. She wants to help empower others to become comfortable in their own skin by the food they eat, clothes they wear, and active lifestyle they live. Valeria shares how trying to follow someone else’s diet or workouts didn’t work for her and how she created her own rules to live by. I know after listening to this podcast you will feel the strength to do that for your own life.

Raena Hawkins

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

She grew up in South Bay of Los Angeles. Her parents divorced when she was 12 and chaos ensued after that. While she was in high school she discovered her passion for technical theatre and met her amazing husband. Something only the people closest to her will know was that she was born two months early and weighed only 3.5 pounds  She says  completing two marathons and numerous half marathons has been a physical battle that made her feel like a warrior.

Warrior They Look Up To:

One of her warriors she looks up to is  her friend Nancy who lost a child under 2, raised her three children practically on her own working two jobs and yet still found the money and time to help them pursue their dreams.

Heart Of The Interview:

Raena opens up her heart and shares great wisdom on how to create awesome friendships in life. She talks about overcoming her shyness and issues growing up that held her back from pursuing friends. She talks about how she is an “Equal Opportunity” friend and that as long as the person is a good person it doesn’t matter what age they are. She gives amazing tips about how she brought her circle of awesome friends together and continually does. Growing up I heard the Jim Rohn quote, “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” but never meant anything to me until I fell into the “bad crowd” growing up and starting making dumb decisions I ended up regretting later. After high school,l I had to learn how to make new friends and how to create my own Circle of Awesome.  A Circle of Awesome is a group of friends that love you , support you, care for you and so much more!! Creating a Circle of Awesome is important for so many reasons! We all need to feel connected, loved, and supported and the more we do the happier you are and the more we will accomplish.

Why I Believe This Person Is A Warrior:

I met Katie a few years ago through our amazing mentor Tiffany Bymaster aka Coach Glitter. I knew from the second I met her that there was something about her that I could relate to I felt an instant closeness. Then I learned more about her and her story and how she became a warrior and it clicked!! We have different stories but in many ways, they are the same.

You can listen to my story on the How Running Saved My Life & How It Can Save Yours podcast. She and I have both battled depression but not only did she come out a warrior she came out a teacher. She teaches others how to conquer depression and learn from it.

This episode is super important for those of you that are battling depression or know someone that is battling depression. If you know anyone that fighting depression then be a good friend or family member and share this with them. It could help or dare I say, save their life.

Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

Kati was Divorced at 23, contemplating suicide, and almost drove herself off the road one night. She was in the middle of fighting a battle of depression after her marriage came to an end. She felt she got married too young before she really realized the bigger issues.

Katie has fought bouts of depression throughout her life. However, I love that no matter what she didn't give up. She’s a fighter, and I admire her for that.

Bene Brown

Heart Of The Interview:

Katie believes her mythological creature that she relates to in life is a fierce phoenix. She has gained so much strength from that.

She blogged during her depression and she would word vomit what she was feeling. However at the end of each blog, there was hope. Thus, the Fenix Project was created.

Throughout the episode, Katie shares amazing, life-changing insight on how to defeat depression yourself and come out a warrior.

Why I Believe This Person Is A Warrior:

Many I believe have fought and won cancer, but very few did it in the style that Holly did. She didn’t just sulk and cry while she was going through chemo. No, she kicked cancer’s ass while laughing and sharing her story the whole time. Now she helps others with their own personal battles with weight loss and inspires the world through her story and laughter.

Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

  • Ex-Family Service Worker and Educator
  • Cancer Survivor
  • Personal Trainer
  • Use to be a cheerleader in high school


Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

  • Battled and beat breast cancer at 30
  • Two years of unemployment with her husband
  • She had to go back to work while her husband was unemployed and went to 6 funerals in 6 months

Me, but I was not expecting it!! Honestly!!

When you’re dating, one of the first things you do is catch up with your date over a meal. You go out to dinner with them, you go grab coffee or you go grab a drink together.  So if you’re in a period of time where you’re trying to diet, it’s difficult when your dates are all about food. Why I Believe This Person Is A Warrior:

Jax is a warrior that I very much look up to. I have spent countless days talking to Jax and learning so much from her. There are not enough adjectives to describe this amazing lady. She’s funny, smart, incredibly giving, courageous, athletic, and so much more. When I first met her there was something that drew me to her. She has an amazing story and energy that I can’t wait for you to find out about. She has changed my life and know this episode will help you change your life and the environment you live in.

Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

She is an IT professional by day and professional organizer by night. Something that only the people closest to her would know is that she is a late bloomer. She had her first kiss by 17, first home by 40, and become a certified cycling instructor by 46.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

This past year Jax had a huge setback when she got a knee injury. She was injured working out when she wasn’t present in the moment and focusing on what she was doing. She discovered that when she is working out she has to be focused on the exercises.

Warrior They Look Up To:

Jax is part of a special group of people I call 6 AM warriors. They are a group I workout in the mornings at 6 AM. The warrior she looks up to is another warrior from the group named Maren Dollwet. Maren has had her ups and downs when it comes to physical battles, but she always has a smile on her face. She always takes things in stride even when she is in the hospital. If you want to learn more about her amazing story check out her podcast called “Surviving Corporate Life with Maren Dollwet.”

Heart Of The Interview:

Growing up Jax was always the organized kid with the neat and clean room. When she got laid off one day she took a job as an office manager until she found another job. When she got there the desk was a mess!! It had stacks of paper all around it. Not only was the desk dirty but the desktop was completely covered on the computer. She immediately went to work, organizing, putting things into the computer, opening Quicken, and more! The productivity of the business increased. The best part of it...she did it in a month!

She discovered that she had a passion and purpose helping people organize their lives, computers, homes, and more

Jax has learned so much over the years with helping others and she shares her greatest tips, tricks, and secrets to getting organized and staying organized.

Why I Believe This Person Is A Warrior:

Maren has been such a blessing in my life. From the moment I met her I admired her. She has the greatest smile - the kind that lights up a whole room. She has a beautiful heart and she is incredibly smart. I mean seriously smart. The women got a Ph.D. before she was 30. Maren knows what it takes to survive and thrive in the corporate world. I’m so excited for her to share her wisdom on corporate psychology so you can achieve your corporate dreams.

Who They Are & Something Only The People Closest To Them Know:

She is originally from Germany but has moved around about 10 times to different countries including the United States and Poland. She loves seeing new places. She is a driven woman who received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior before the age of 30. She currently works at Directv in El Segundo in Human Resources. She helps employees really find their place in a company.

Their Battle, Mentally Or Physically, They Fought And Came Out A Warrior:

Her warrior battle happened recently. Growing up she never broke a bone or had a serious illness. This past year she had a nagging cough that she didn’t think much of. She skied, rode horses, and exercised with this nagging cough. She decided to go to the doctors just to check it out and discovered she had a collapsed lung. She’s never had to go through something like that. She was stuck in a hospital bed and it was hard on her mentally. She learned so much during that battle. Listen closely because I know you can learn from her battle.

Heart Of The Interview:

This interview dives deep into the mentality behind being a corporate warrior. Being a corporate warrior means having to have a certain mentality and set of habits. Maren shares her amazing tips and knowledge on how to help you not just overcome but conquer the corporate battles
